So, I'm writing the first blog for my new website, and in fact, the first blog I've written in a *really* long time. It's been a long time since I thought anyone would care what I had to say, and it's been only recently that I've started to feel more comfortable with the idea of sharing my thoughts externally even if no one does want to read it.
The experience of building this site almost completely from scratch (thank you to ribo.zone for the layout template!) has been a bit of a blast from the past. My first websites that I built in elementary school (approximately 4th-6th grade) were mostly on Geocities, and were for my Petz 4/5 cattery/kennelz (IYKYK & hit me up!!). I then proceeded to hone my HTML and CSS skills on sites like MySpace and Wajas, until...for some reason, I just stopped. Mid-high school maybe? I have a feeling that it was a combination of not wanting to be seen as uncool - nowadays we might say "cringe" - and also, website makers started to appear that made it a lot easier to not do the work yourself and just run it through Wordpress, (eventually) Squarespace, or a similar webmaker that simultaneously robbed you of your agency while also giving it to you in a different way.
